This breakthrough product was designed to have the durability of ceramic and cement and is made entirely from recycled supplies. This product can be used for patchwork or a complete resurfacing of the flue liner and has a twenty-year warranty when professionally installed by a certified HeatShield® professional. Opting for the HeatShield® resurfacing process can save you the expense of having a completely new liner installed and can give you almost instant results.
Only highly-experienced and certified industry pros are chosen to be HeatShield® installers. These select technicians are extensively trained in the application process before they are certified to use the product. All Chief Chimney Services, Inc. technicians are certified and trained to use this product, and we guarantee our installation and application every time.
The Process
If your liner is structurally sound and simply needs some patchwork to keep it functioning safely and smoothly, a HeatShield® certified installer will use video surveillance to locate and assess the surfaces in need. Next, an applicator blade will be customized to fit with your flue liner and will be placed below the area being treated. Once the blade is in place, the HeatShield® product is applied and the blade glides over the area, forcing the product into the gap, split, or crack, and smoothing out the surface. Once all of the necessary repairs are made, a video camera is once again inserted into the flue liner, to evaluate the repairs and make sure that nothing was missed. This footage allows you to see the results of our work immediately!
If your liner is in need of a complete resurfacing job, a HeatShield® certified installer will use video surveillance to document the condition of the existing surface. Once sufficient footage is recorded, a customized applicator blade is designed to fit inside of your flue liner and is placed at the bottom of the chimney system. The next step is the application of a “tie coat”, which guarantees a clean surface that is sufficiently prepped for the application of the HeatShield® sealant. This coat must dry thoroughly before the technician moves on to the next step. Once the tie coat is dry, the HeatShield® sealant product is applied to the flue liner and the applicator blade is pulled up, smoothing the product as it goes. Once the product is completely applied, the HeatShield® installer will once again insert a video camera into the flue to check for consistency and effectiveness.
